Meet Our Current Team
The CANA Team is passionate about making our neighborhood a welcoming and thriving place for all of our neighbors!
President
Eli Tsarovsky (he/him)
Hi! I am in the MPH - MPA (Masters of Public Health and Masters of Public Administration) programs at UW-Madison. I have been involved in the CANA executive board since its start. Some accomplishments I am proud of are the successful application for the Neighborhood Grant through the City of Madison that allowed CANA to have a new website and official Zoom Account. I have enjoyed growing CANA's reach through new partnerships with local organizations like the Italian Workmen's Club and Liquid. I am an advocate for affordable housing in downtown Madison and tested leader of steering committees in downtown. I enjoy pushing city officials to try harder and think through collaborative solutions with our neighborhood. I look forward to leading CANA with the new exec team through another successful year of neighborhood action!
Vice President
Cleo Le (they/them)
Hello! My name is Cleo Le, and I am currently in the 1 year MSW (Masters of Social Work) program at UW-Madison. I have been involved with CANA for the past few years as a general executive member who focused on outreach and attendance, and am the liaison for DMI (Downtown Madison Inc). I was an intern for Dane County's Division of Housing Access and Affordability in 2021-2022 and worked in the CDBG/HOME Program. I hope to use all of these experiences to increase affordability in Madison and build neighborhood coalition. I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of the neighborhood as the Vice President for the 2022-2023 term!
Secretary
Hana Romero (she/her)

Hello neighbors, I am Hana Romero! I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in Economics and certificate in Public Policy. As an incumbent executive board member, I hope to continue to advocate for affordable housing in Madison. I also hope to ensure CANA engages local stakeholders in developments. I am excited to be CANA’s secretary this upcoming year and look forward to everything CANA has in store!
South Campus Representative
Charlie Fahey (he/him)

Charlie is passionate about making housing more affordable. As a member of the Campus Area Neighborhood Association, he wants to ensure that people can find a place to live in Madison. He is currently an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is also involved with the Associated Students of Madison.
South Campus Representative
MGR Govindarajan (he/him)
I'm MGR Govindarajan (he/him), a junior studying legal studies and political science. Housing near campus has become too expensive, I've spent the last few months trying to figure out possible solutions to the housing problems we as students face. I'm interested in the South Campus Representative position because even if affordable housing isn't a campus issue, it is a student issue. I hope to be able to advocate for students working with both campus and off-campus decision makers to do what's in the best interest of students. Students shouldn't have to spend 3/4ths of their earnings on rent and shouldn't have to sign waivers allowing landlords to avoid maintaining their buildings.
FSL (Fraternity & Sorority Life) Representative
Tanner Mechura (he/him)

Fall 2019 was my first semester at UW-Madison, as a fraternity member and student studying communication arts with certificates in digital studies plus entrepreneurship.

As a casual cyclist, you also may see me cruising around!

I am interested in being a CANA Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Representative as I am passionate about being a strong voice connecting students with our community, especially the local government and developments affecting our downtown neighborhood, to improve our livelihood.
On Wisconsin!
FSL (Fraternity & Sorority Life) Representative
Reed Lokken (he/him)

Hello everyone! My name is Reed and I’m studying Computer Science. This semester I’m interning with the state capitol with Senator Chris Larson where I regularly respond to constituent concerns. Being an active member of ASM as well, I am also working to bring student legal services to campus. Last year, I worked alongside my local school district in Eau Claire to reduce the district’s carbon footprint through collaboration with staff and local utilities. As a FSL Rep, I plan to check in with each registered fraternity and sorority once a semester and bring issues to the attention of the appropriate alder.
ASM (Associated Students of Madison) Representative
Ruby Sandeman (she/her)

Hello! My name is Ruby Sandeman (she/her), and I am studying Political Science with a certificate in Global Health. Whether it be grassroots organizing, helping Representative Dave Considine hand out fliers door-to-door for his campaign, or volunteering at election polls, I do my best to remain politically active throughout the community. I am a fierce advocate for affordable housing in Madison and I hope to provide a strong voice for the UW-Madison community by utilizing the unique experiences I've accumulated as a committed student and volunteer. I’m excited to be a part of CANA and I look forward to making impactful change!
